Text Box: Recently I was invited to attend a program at the Quest for Life at Bundanoon. The Petrea King Quest for Life Centre provides support and education in a safe, nurturing environment for people with serious, chronic or life -threatening illness and for their loved ones. Life problems are also part of the programs.
The program I attended for 4 days was a “Healing Your Life” program and I was part of a team that included 2 psychologists, 1 yoga/meditation teacher, 2 massage therapists. I was Text Box: amazed at how each person not only learnt from each other but how they helped each other. The participants learn practical strategies to improve their situation. All were carrying emotional , physical, or mental burdens that Impacted on their lives. The group shared their stories and how they managed their physical, mental and emotional lives. In doing so they understand how to live well with their illness or problem and not be defined by it. They become active Text Box: participators rather than a helpless victims of their circumstances.
The programs are recognized and supported by the NSW Health Department to enable low-income earners to attend. Check the website for the programs available or call me for more information.

Text Box: A Rainbow Ritual was developed out of Petrea’s work in helping children deal with challenging, sad or distressing news. It is a blessing for children and a comfort for their parents. You can take as long or as little time with this ritual as seems appropriate for the age of the child.
When a child is ready for sleep, ask them to snuggle down into a Text Box: comfortable position so that you can wrap them up in a rainbow. You can ask the child to close their eyes so that they can imagine better. Running your hand
lightly over the whole of their body, from the top of their head to the tips of their toes, ask the child to imagine that you’re wrapping them up in a
cloud of red – the colour of tomatoes and fire-engines. You can ask the Text Box: child if they can ‘see’ the colour- children can always visualize colours.
Next, still running your hand lightly over their body, ask the child to imagine that you're wrapping them up in a cloud of orange – the colour of oranges, marigolds and nasturtiums.
Next you wrap them in a cloud of yellow – the colour of wattle, daffodils and golden warm sunshine Text Box: Rainbows - A beautiful ritual that I have found helps when words fail.
